The first step is to locate your homeowner’s insurance policy. For future reference, this would be a good time to locate your deductible as it will come up later in the claims process.  During catastrophe times it may take time to call in a claim as all the insurance carriers are dealing with high volumes of call. It MAY be quicker to file online. Once you file your claim, if you have a mortgage on the home this is the appropriate time to contact the mortgage company for a claim packet. The claim packet which includes; Statement of Completion Form, Contractor W-9, & Lien Waver Form. This speeds up the process ensuring your project will not experience delays.

Once a claim is filed the insurance carrier will assign an adjuster who will visit the home to confirm damage severity.
